- Three racks of tracks, each under the picker that decides what it is played on: Drums, Instruments, Voices. The dots are the pattern — a dot per beat over four bars, or a dot per step in a short one. The bar down the right edge mutes; tap a chip to select it and hear it.
- The metre sits beside the tempo, because it belongs to the music rather than to the bar you are editing: a bar is sixteen steps in 4/4, twelve in 3/4 (three beats of four) and twelve in 6/8 (two beats of three). 1 bar · 4 bars, over the pattern, is how many of them go round; the numbered buttons pick which one you are editing.
- Tap a step to write it, tap it again to clear it, drag to paint a run or to erase one. Hold a written step to lean on it or lighten it — normal, accent, ghost.
- Lead turns the lane into eight rows of the scale. Tap a row to write that note; tap a lit one again to erase it.
- Key sets the root. Giro moves the bass and the chord stab through the four bars, and decides whether the scale is minor, major, or the tarantella's.
- Instruments plays the stab, guitar, arpeggio and lead as italo saws, accordion reeds, a guitar, a mandolin, a Rhodes, drawbars or brass. Bass is asked separately, because what the tune is on and whether the bass is a real one are two questions: Electric is a recorded bass, Accordion is the box's own left hand, Synthesised is the saw pair. Drums is the synthesised machine or a real cajon, tambourine, shaker and hand claps.
- Filter is one lowpass across everything, including the echo.
- Waveform: drag the two handles to set where a clip starts and ends. Press anywhere in the strip and the nearer handle comes to you.
- Chop snaps that end to 1, 2, 4, 8 steps or Full. It is a length in steps, so a chopped voice stays in time when you move the tempo.
- Echo is per track, in the Track panel: how much of that one feeds the delay. Repeat decides whether firing a voice again cuts the one already playing or lets them stack.
- Base are the presets, eight for the pack you have loaded. Swing and the sidechain have no buttons — a pattern that wants them asks.
- Record captures whatever you are playing, for as long as you leave it running. Trim the result on its wave and Save writes a WAV — shared on a phone, downloaded on a desktop.
- Hold a track in the racks above to solo it. Copy bar puts the bar you are looking at over the other three. ½ and 2× halve and double the tempo.
- Save keeps what you have made in this browser, under a name. It stores everything: the pattern, the mix, the clip trims, tempo, key, giro and instrument. Saved ones appear under the presets; the × removes one.
